Chiasmocleis crucis Caramaschi and Pimenta, 2003, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 61: 198. Holotype: MNRJ 29933, by original designation. Type locality: "BRASIL, BAHIA: Município de Camamu, Projeto de Assentamento Zumbi dos Palmares (14° 02′ S, 39° 09′ W, 120 m de altitude)".

In a group with Chiasmocleis cordeiroi, Chiasmocleis capixaba, and Chiasmocleis leucosticta, according to the original publication. Forlani, Mira-Mendes, Dias, Ruas, Tonini, and de Sá, 2013, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 8: 46-51, reported on the advertisement call and range.
