Alsodes kaweshkari Formas, Cuevas, and Nuñez, 1998, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 111: 522. Holotype: IZUA 1624, by original designation; destroyed by fire on 3 December 2007. Type locality: "Puerto Edén (49° 8′ S, 74° 25′ W, 10 m), Wellington Island, Ultima Esperanza Province, Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic [sic] Region (XII Región), Chile".

Distribution
Known only from two localities (Puerto Edén and Seno Huemules), southern Chile.
