Astylosternus diadematus Werner, 1898, Verh. Zool. Bot. Ges. Wien, 48: 200. Holotype: ZMB 13920 according to Amiet, 1985, in Frost (ed.), Amph. Species World: 21. Type locality: "Victoria [now Limbé], Kamerun".

Distribution

Western and southwestern Cameroon, and extreme eastern Nigeria, at elevations of 250–1100 m.

In the Astylosternus diadematus group of Amiet, 1978 "1977", Ann. Fac. Sci. Cameroun, 23–24: 99–227. Schiøtz, 1963, Vidensk. Medd. Dansk Naturhist. Foren., 125: 47-48, provided records for Nigeria. Herrmann, Böhme, Herrmann, Plath, Schmitz, and Solbach, 2005, Salamandra, 41: 61–81, reported the species from Nkebe Waterfall and Nguéngué, southwestern Cameroon.
