Cameroon Range and along the northern and southern edges of the Adamaoua Plateau, in the submontane zone; Obudu Plateau of eastern Nigeria

In the Astylosternus diadematus group of Amiet, 1978 "1977", Ann. Fac. Sci. Cameroun, 23–24: 99-227. Herrmann, Böhme, Herrmann, Plath, Schmitz, and Solbach, 2005, Salamandra, 41: 61–81, reported the species from Nguéngué, and summit of Mt Nlonako, southwestern Cameroon.
