Type locality: "Mt Nlonako, près [ESE] de Nkongsamba, récolté entre 800 et 1.000 m d'altitude", Cameroon.

Distribution
Hilly country near the southern and western slopes of the Bamileke Plateau and Mont Manengouba, Cameroon.

Herrmann, Böhme, Herrmann, Plath, Schmitz, and Solbach, 2005, Salamandra, 41: 61–81, reported the species from Nguéngué, southwestern Cameroon.See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 153. Mapouyat, Hirschfeld, Rödel, Liedtke, Loader, Gonwouo, Dahmen, Doherty-Bone, and Barej, 2014, Zootaxa, 3765: 29–53, reported on larval morphology. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 250–251, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
