Leptodactylodon stevarti Rödel and Pauwels, 2003, Salamandra, 39: 139. Holotype: IRSNB 1928, by original designation. Type locality: "forest strean, 550 m a.s.l., 0° 37´ 301 N, 10° 24´ 402 [sic] E. near Tchimbélé dam, Haut-Komo Department, Woleu-Ntem Province, Gabon".

Distribution
Known only from the type locality (near Tchimbélé dam, Haut-Komo Department, Woleu-Ntem Province, northwestern Gabon); possibly also at Monte Alen in Equatorial Guinea. See comment.

In the Leptodactylus ovatus group according to the original publication. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 154. Dewynter and Frétey, 2019, Cah. Fondation Biotope, 27: 10, summarized the literature for Gabon and provided photographs (p. 46). Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 246–247, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. See brief account, range map, and photographs for Equatorial Guinea, as Leptodactylodon cf. stevarti, in Sánchez-Vialas, Calvo-Revuelta, Castroviejo-Fisher, and De la Riva, 2020, Proc. California Acad. Sci., Ser. 4, 66: 137–230, who noted that Leptodactylodon stevarti is with confidence known only from its type locality.
