Brachycephalus crispus Condez, Clemente-Carvalho, Haddad, and Reis, 2014, Herpetologica, 70: 91. Holotype: CFBH 29839, by original designation. Type locality: "in Bacia B, Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar, Núcleo Cunha, municipality of Cunha, São Paulo State, southeastern Brazil, approximately 920 m above sea level (23°15′14.8″S, 45°01′57.8″W; WGS84 datum)".

Known only from the type locality in Bacia B, Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar, Núcleo Cunha, municipality of Cunha, São Paulo State, southeastern Brazil, approximately 920 m above sea level.
Comment
The advertisement call was detailed in the original publication. Tentatively assigned to the Brachycephalus ephippium group by Ribeiro, Bornschein, Belmonte-Lopes, Firkowski, Morato, and Pie, 2015, PeerJ, 3 (e1011): 1–35. Folly, Luna-Dias, Miguel, Ferreira, Machado, Lopes, and Pombal, 2023, Acta Zool., Stockholm, 104: 71–105, reviewed the osteology.
