Eleutherodactylus juipoca Sazima and Cardoso, 1978, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 38: 921. Holotype: MNRJ 4013, by original designation. Type locality: "Souzas, Campinas, São Paulo, Brasil (aprox. 22° 50′ S, 46° 58′ W; 620 m alt.)".

In the Eleutherodactylus binotatus group, according to the original publication, where the advertisement call was described. Haddad, Andrade, and Cardoso, 1988, Brasil Florestal, 64: 9–20, described the call. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) binotatus series, Eleutherodactylus binotatus group of Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 226. Canelas and Bertoluci, 2007, Iheringia, Zool., 97: 21-26, provided a second locality. In the Ischnocnema verrucosa species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 29, Canedo and Haddad, 2012, Mol. Phylogenet. Serra do Cipó: 1-292, provided an account, life history information, and an identification scheme for the Serra de Cipó, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
