Comment
In the Eleutherodactylus guentheri group according to the original publication. In the Ischnocnema lactea species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 27. Excluded from any species series by Canedo and Haddad, 2012, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 65: 619, and Taucce, Canedo, Parreiras, Drummond, Nogueira-Costa, and Haddad, 2018, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 128: 123–146, although they provided evidence of its relationship to Ischnocnema sambaqui. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status (as Eleutherodactylus manezinho) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 620. Castanho and Haddad, 2000, Copeia, 2000: 777–781, reported on the call. Oswald, Magalhães, Garcia, Santos, and Neckel de Oliveira, 2023, PeerJ, 11(e15393): 1–26, discussed the mtDNA matriline structure. morphometrics, and call structure, and suggested that the mainland populations require additional work to determine if they represent cryptic species.
