Eleutherodactylus audanti notidodes Schwartz, 1966, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 133: 380. Holotype: MCZ 43204, by original designation. Type locality: "20 km (11.7 miles) southwest of Hondo Valle, elevation 5950 ft., Independencia Province, República Dominicana".

In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) auriculatus species series, Eleutherodactylus abbotti group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 54, and of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 129. Henderson and Powell, 2009, Nat. Hist. Rept. Amph. W. Indies: 67, summarized the natural history literature. Díaz, Incháustegui, Marte, Köhler, Cádiz, and Rodríguez, 2018, Novit. Caribaea, Santo Domingo, 12: 38, on the basis of preliminary molecular data suggested that Eleuterodactylus melatrigonum may be conspecific with Eleutherodactylus notidodesRíos-López, 2023, In Rios-Lopez and Heatwole (eds.), Conserv. Biogeograph. Amph. Caribb.: 218–262, discussed conservation status and related issues in Haiti.
