In the Eleutherodactylus ricordii group according to the original publication. Two subspecies recognized by Schwartz, 1960, Sci. Publ. Reading Public Mus. Art Gallery, 11: 33–37, although Eleutherodactylus zugi erythroproctus is now recognized as a distinct species. Not assignable to species group according to Hedges, 1989, in Woods (ed.), Biogeograph. W. Indies: 325. In the Eleutherodactylus (Euhyas) ricordii group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec.
