Bufo (Anaxyrus) williamsi Gordon, Simandle, and Tracy, 2017, Zootaxa, 4290: 127. Holotype: CAS 259271, by original designation. Type locality: "Dixie Valley, Churchill County, Nevada, United States (39°47'39.02"N, 118° 3'32.08"W)".  http://zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:8F0A8A4C-CD1D-4838-93F0-A821A4E81E11

Anaxyrus williamsi — Here (12 July 2017). Note from DRF. It is unclear to me what the authors are attempting to do with the original formulation of the name inasmuch to get this species into Bufo requires enormous taxonomic realignments in the New and Old Worlds. See comment under Bufonidae.

English Names

Dixie Valley Toad (original publication).

Distribution

In a small area (about 6 square km) in Dixie Valley, Churchill County, Nevada, USA.

Comment

In the Anaxyrus boreas complex according to the original publication. Given that including this species in Bufo requires putting a bunch of Asian and African genera into Bufo as well requires its treatment as member of the genus Anaxyrus (DRF). Forrest, Stiller, King, and Rouse, 2019, W. North Am. Nat., 77: 162–175, discussed the relationships of this toad with nearby populations nominally assigned to Anaxyrus boreas.
