Ansonia minuta Inger, 1960, Fieldiana, Zool., 39: 493. Holotype: FMNH 77424, by original designation. Type locality: "in primary forest at 450 feet above sea level at Matang, First Division, Sarawak", Malaysia (Borneo).

Western and central Sarawak and Sabah (Malaysia) and adjacent western Kalimantan (Indonesia), Borneo, 200-1000 m elevation.

Herpetol., Kyoto, 25: 1-14, reported the species for Sabah, Malaysia. Das, Jankowski, Makmor, and Haas, 2007, Mitt. Hamburg. Zool. Mus. Inst., 104: 141-174, provided a photograph and natural history information. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 610.
