Comment
In the Atelopus ignescens group of Lynch, 1993, Alytes, 11: 77–87. See Cochran and Goin, 1970, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 288: 122–125, for subspecies and account. P. Ruiz, in Lötters, 1996, Neotrop. Toad Genus Atelopus: 24, suggested that the population at the Tolima locality represents an unnamed species. Bolívar-García and Restrepo-Toro, 2004, in Rueda-Almonacid et al. (eds.), Libro Rojo Anf. Colombia: 185–188, provided an account (for nominal Atelopus eusebianus) and map. Gutiérrez and López-López, 2005, in Rueda-Almonacid et al. (eds.), Ranas Arlequines: 70, provided a brief account, photograph, and map. Ardila-Robayo, 2005, in Rueda-Almonacid et al. (eds.), Ranas Arlequines: 56, provided a brief account for nominal Atelopus angelito. Valencia-Rojas and López-López, 2005, Nov. Colomb., N. Epoca, 8: 71–74, reported an additional locality for Atelopus eusebianus. López-López and Granados-Díaz, 2005, in Rueda-Almonacid et al. (eds.), Ranas Arlequines: 74, provided a brief account, photograph, and map for nominal Atelopus eusebianus. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status of Atelopus ebenoides in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 160–165 (in the sense of including Atelopus marinkellei); they also provided similar accounts for Atelopus eusebianus and Atelopus angelito. Coloma, Duellman, Almendáriz C., Ron, Terán-Valdez, and Guayasamin, 2010, Zootaxa, 2574: 1–54, discussed the Ecuador record of Atelopus angelito and noted that the population may be extinct. Hernández-Córdoba, Cardona-Botero, and Castro-Herrera, 2014, Check List, 10: 682–683, provided a record of nominal Atelopus eusebianus for Valle del Cauca, Colombia, and mapped the range of the species, although this identification requires genetic confirmation. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 2: 201–202, provided an account of nominal Atelopus angelito, with photographs, which summarized identification, adult morphology, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
