Comment
Ruiz-Carranza, Ardila-Robayo, and Lynch, 1996, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 20: 366, suggested that there was no evidence that Atelopus ebenoides marinkellei is a suspecies of Atelopus ebenoides but took no taxonomic action. Ardila-Robayo, Osorno-Muñoz, and Maldonado-Silva, 2004, in Rueda-Almonacid et al. (eds.), Libro Rojo Anf. Colombiaezembed: 112–114, provided an account for Atelopus ebenoides marinkellei and suggested that it might be a distinct species from Atelopus ebenoides. Rueda-Almonacid and Rueda-Martínez, 2005, in Rueda-Almonacid et al. (eds.), Ranas Arlequines: 71, formalized the suggestion. Galvis-Cordoba and Carvajalino-Fernández, 2025, Check List, 21: 852–856, reported the rediscovery of the species from the Páramo de Siscunsí, a regional natural park within the Tota-Bijagual páramo complex. The specific site is along a rural path that leads from the main road to Siscunsí Lagoon (05°38′50″N, 072°47′14″W) at an elevation of approximately 3500 m.
