Atelopus nahumae Ruiz-Carranza, Ardila-Robayo, and Hernández-Camacho, 1994, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 19: 154. Holotype: ICN 00439, by original designation. Type locality: "Colombia, Departamento del Magdalena, Municipio de Santa Marta, vertiente SE de la Cuchilla de San Lorenzo, al SW de la estación Forestal de San Lorenzo, sector NW Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, ca. 11° 11′ latitud N, 74° 3′ longitud W de Greenwich, 1900 m."

Humid montane forest of the northwestern to southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, northeastern Magdalena and norther Cesar provinces, Colombia, 1900–2800 m elevation.
