Atelopus orcesi Coloma, Duellman, Almendáriz C., Ron, Terán-Valdez, and Guayasamin, 2010, Zootaxa, 2574: 16. Holotype: MHNG 2684.75, by original designation. Type locality: "La Alegría-Sibundoy (0° 34′ N, 77° 31′ W; 2400 m), Provincia de Sucumbíos, Ecuador".

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (La Alegría-Sibundoy) on the eastern versant of the Cordillera Oriental in northern Provincia Sucumbíos, Ecuador, ca. 2400 m elevation.

Comment

Likely extinct or nearly so according to the original publication. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 2: 240–241, provided an account, with photographs, which summarized identification, adult morphology, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
