Atelopus petersi Coloma, Lötters, Duellman, and Miranda-Leiva, 2007, Zootaxa, 1557: 11. Holotype: QCAZ 300, by original designation. Type locality: "Ecuador: Provincia Napo: Cantón Quijos: near Oyacachi, (00°12′36″S, 78°42′00″ W; approximately 3200 m above seal level".

Páramo habitat on the Cordillera Oriental of the provinces of Napo and (provisionally) Chimborazo, Ecuador, 2660–3300 m elevation.
