Frostius erythrophthalmus Pimenta and Caramaschi, 2007, Zootaxa, 1508: 62. Holotype: MNRJ 27245, by original designation. Type locality: "Fazenda Caititu (14° 25′ S, 39° 04′ W, 136 m above sea level), Municipality of Uruçuca, State of Bahia, Brazil".

Known from four localities in the Atlantic Rain Forest in southern Bahia, Brazil, at elevations of 140-920 m.
