Melanophryniscus diabolicus Martínez Aguirre, Dopazo, Cortelezzi, Arellano, Trofino Falasco, Simoy, and Berkunsky, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28: 109. Holotype: MLP 5853, by original designation. Type locality: "Argentina, Buenos Aires, Sierra de la Ventana, Municipality of Tornquist (38°4′18.5″ S 62°0′43.5″ W)".

Distribution

Highland grassland with rocky soil in the Ventania Mountain System and dune grasslands in the southern part of Buenos Aires province, Argentina: found in only 3 localities, 2 localities in highland grasslands of the Ventania Mountain System, and one record from 1948 in a rocky dune grassland, 100 km away from the highland grassland in  southwestern Province of Buenos Aires.
