Melanophryniscus langonei Maneyro, Naya, and Baldo, 2008, Iheringia, Zool., 98: 191. Holotype: ZVCB 5334, by original designation. Type locality: "URUGUAY, Rivera: Establecimiento Trinidad (30° 59′ S, 55° 26′ W, approximately 230 m elevation)".

Distribution

Department of Rivera, northern Uruguay; presumably into adjacent Rio Grando do Sul, Brazil.

In the Melanophryniscus moreirae group according to the original publication. Zank, Becker, Abadie, Baldo, and Maneyro, 2014, PLoS One, E 9(4: e94625): 1–11, provided modeled distribution maps for the species under climate change. Maneyro, Langone, and Carreira, 2019, in Maneyro, Langone, and Carreira (eds.), Libro Rojo Anf. Rept. Uruguay: 19–22, provided an account for Uruguay and suggested the species will be found in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Langone and Lavilla, 2024, Comun. Zool. Mus. Hist. Nat. Montevideo, 13: 20, provided the taxonomic literature including misidentifications.
