Melanophryniscus nigricans Martínez Aguirre, Dopazo, Cortelezzi, Arellano, Trofino Falasco, Simoy, and Berkunsky, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28: 111. Holotype: MLP 5134, by original designation. Type locality: "Argentina, Buenos Aires, Reserva Natural Sierra del Tigre, Municipality of Tandil (37°22′39.79″ S 59°7′43.16″ W)".

Distribution

Tandilia Mountain System, in southeastern Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Comment

In the Melanophryniscus stelzneri group, according to the original publication, where external morphology and likely extinction were detailed. Langone and Lavilla, 2024, Comun. Zool. Mus. Hist. Nat. Montevideo, 13: 30–31, provided access to and discussion of the literature of the species.
