Nectophryne batesii Boulenger, 1913, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 8, 12: 71. Species World: 69, and museum records. Type locality: "Neighbourhood of Bitye, on the Ja River (Congo System)", Cameroon.

Distribution

Southeastern Nigeria, western and southern Cameroon, Gabon, southern (and expected in northern) Rep. Congo, southern Central African Republic, and north-central and northeastern Dem. Rep. Congo into Cabinda Province, Angola (see comment); Equatorial Guinea (Bioko I. and Río Muni).

Conserv. Biol., 13: 247, commented on the species in Gabon. Dewynter and Frétey, 2019, Cah. Herpetol., 74: 21, reported Nectophryne aff. batesii (genetically differing from Nectophryne batesii from Gabon, and possibly a distinct species) from Mayombe National Park, Cabinda Province, Angola.
