Bufo florentinoi Moreno and Rivalta González, 2007, Solenodon, 6: 61. Holotype: CZACC 14.3085, by original designation. Type locality: "Gironcito, Playa Girón, Península de Zapata, provincia Matanzas, 224′ 9.62″ N y 811′ 10.81″ W", Cuba.

Common Names

Distribution

Cuba from the western part of Pinar del Rio Province east to east-central Matanzas Province, and Guajimico, Cienfuegos Province, Cuba.

In the Bufo peltocephalus group according to the original publication; in Peltophryne, therefore, by implication. Díaz and Cádiz, 2008, Guía Taxon. Anf. Cuba: 1-294, provided an account, as Bufo florentinoi. Henderson and Powell, 2009, Nat. Hist. Rept. Amph. W. Indies: 27, summarized the natural history literature (as Bufo florentinoi). Alonso, Hernández, and Rodriguez, 2010, Amphibia-Reptilia, 31: 265–272, reported on the advertisement call. Rivalta González, Rodríguez Schettino, Mancina, and Iturriaga, 2014, Smithson. Herpetol. Inform. Serv., 145: 7, provided a dot map and localities. Díaz, Lemm, Briggs, Clark, Dannenberg, Gamber, Kelly, Laughlin, Markowski, Shelley, and Van Bakel, 2019, Novit. Caribaea, Santo Domingo, 13: 122–124, provided a record from Guajimico, Cienfuegos Province, Cuba. Borroto-Páez, Socorro Llanes, and Bosch, 2023, Reptiles & Amphibians, 30 (e20975): 1–4, provided a new locality and discussed the range. del Castillo Domínguez and Bosch, 2023, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 140: 471–483, discussed character displacement in release calls among Cuban Peltophryne species.
