Distribution

Known from the region of Serra da Namba, 1730–1840 m elevation, in the west-central Angolan highlands.

Related to Poyntonophrynus pachnodes and Poyntonophrynus fernandae according to the original publication, where comparative morphology, osteology, and molecular markers were detailed. Becker, Baptista, Vaz Pinto, Ernst, and Conradie, 2023, Namib. J. Environm., 8: 245–257, discussed this species, its range in the highlands of Angola, and provided a dot map.
