Rhamphophryne tenrec Lynch and Renjifo, 1990, J. Herpetol., 24: 364. Holotype: ICN 13840, by original designation. Type locality: "near Campamento Ingeominas (ca. 6°42′N, 76°27′W), near the headwaters of Rio Amparradó, Municipio Dabeiba, Departamento Antioquia, Colombia, 805 m elevation".

Common Names

Antioquia Beaked Toad (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 45).

Distribution

Known only from the western slope of the Cordillera Occidental, in western departaments of Antioquia and northern Chocó, Colombia, 805 to 950 m elevation.

Comment

The sister species of Rhamphophryne acrolopha according to the original publication. In the Rhinella margaritifera clade, Rhinella festae group of Pereyra, Blotto, Baldo, Chaparro, Ron, Elias-Costa, Iglesias, Venegas, Thomé, Ospina-Sarria, Maciel, Rada, Kolenc, Borteiro, Rivera-Correa, Rojas-Runjaic, Moravec, De la Riva, Wheeler, Castroviejo-Fisher, Grant, Haddad, and Faivovich, 2021, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 447: 1–156. Copete-Mosquera, Restrepo Montoya, and Sánchez-Vialas, 2024, Rev. Latinoam. Herpetol., 7: 58–62, provided the southernmost record (Guaudas, Carmen de Atrato, Chocó Department, Colombia, 950 m elevation) and a dot map of the species.
