Tandy and Keith, 1972, in Blair (ed.), Evol. Genus Bufo: 158, tentatively referred Bufo buchneri to the synonymy of Bufo funereus; therefore assigned to their Bufo funereus group. Marques, Ceríaco, Blackburn, and Bauer, 2018, Proc.
