Inyanga Mountains of Zimbabwe to adjacent central Mozambique, ca. 2400-2560 m elevation.

Most recently recognized as distinct from Vandijkophrynus gariepensis (as Bufo) by Channing, 2001, Amph. Cent. S. Afr.: 78, and who presented an account. Du Preez and Carruthers, 2009, Compl. Guide Frogs S. Afr.: 180-181, also presented a brief account.
