Comment
Formerly placed into the synonymy of Platymantis dorsalis by Brown and Inger, 1964, Copeia, 1964: 450-451; formerly tentatively identified as a senior synonym of Platymantis meyeri by Inger, 1954, Fieldiana, Zool., 33: 354. Removed from the synonymy of Platymantis dorsalis by Pitogo, Hoskins, Tesfazion, Meneses, Cannon, Supsup, Decena, Sanguila, and Brown, 2026, Zootaxa, 5884: 280, on the basis of morphology, morphometrics, advertisement call, and molecular markers; placed as the sister taxon of Platymantis habagatan. See comment section under Platymantis dorsalis for access to literature under that name which potentially includes observations on this species. Reported, prior to the taxonomic partitioning, as Platymantis dorsalis from Leyte by Denzer, Henle, Margraf, and Milan, 1994, Ann. Trop. Res., 16: 44–69, and from Bohol by Aureo and Decena, 2023, Herpetol. Conserv. Biol., 18: 348–361, according to Pitogo, Hoskins, Tesfazion, Meneses, Cannon, Supsup, Decena, Sanguila, and Brown, 2026, Zootaxa, 5884: 280–281.
