Cornufer laticeps Taylor, 1920, Philipp. J. Sci., 16: 317. Holotype: CM 3496 (formerly EHT 197), according to McCoy and Richmond, 1966, Ann. Carnegie Mus., 38: 246. Type locality: "Bunawan, Agusan, Mindanao", Philippines.

Distribution
Known only from the northeastern portion of Mindanao Island, Philippines, where it has been documented from Mt. Hilong-Hilong, Mt. Balatukan, Mt. Lumot, and Mt. Magdiwata.

Removed from the synonymy of Platymantis dorsalis where it had been placed by Brown and Inger, 1964, Copeia, 1964: 450-451 (and previously in the synonymy of Platymantis meyeri by Inger, 1954, Fieldiana, Zool., 33: 354), by Pitogo, Hoskins, Tesfazion, Meneses, Cannon, Supsup, Decena, Sanguila, and Brown, 2026, Zootaxa, 5884: 271–300, on the basis of comparative morphology, morphometrics, molecular markers, and advertisement call, and who provided a summary of natural history and conservation status:
