Comment
Probably in the Colostethus subpunctatus group (Group IX), according to the original publication. Rivero and Almendáriz C., 1992 "1991", Rev. Politécnica, Quito, 16: 115, thought this species might extend into Ecuador, but that seems unlikely at this late date (DRF). Duellman, 2004, Sci. Pap. Nat. Hist. Mus. Univ. Kansas, 35: 33-34, provided an account. Grant, Frost, Caldwell, Gagliardo, Haddad, Kok, Means, Noonan, Schargel, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 299: 174, discussed the species, known only from the holotype, and could not allocate it beyond Dendrobatoidea (Aromobatidae + Dendrobatidae), merely retaining it in a non-taxon "Colostethus".
