See account by Heyer, Rand, Cruz, Peixoto, and Nelson, 1990, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 31: 252–253. Franz and Mello, 2015, Check List, 11 (Art. 1594): 1–4, reported Fritziana aff. fissilis from Rio Grande do Sul and discussed the taxonomic issue and range of the entire nominal species. Records from states of Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul assigned to Fritziana mitus and that of Espiritu Santo to Fritziana tonimi by Walker, Wachlevski, Nogueira da Costa, Nogueira-Costa, Garcia, and Haddad, 2018, Herpetologica, 74: 329–341. Ferreira, Mônico, Silva, Lirio, Zocca, Mageski, Tonini, Beard, Duca, and Silva-Soares, 2019, ZooKeys, 857: 152, noted an unnamed species, "Fritziana aff. fissilis" in the region of Santa Teresa, Espírito Santo, Brazil. Pezzuti, Leite, Rossa-Feres, and Garcia, 2021, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 22 (Special Issue): 1–109, described Fritziana aff. fissilis larval morphology and natural history.
