Comment
In the Hyla pulchella group according to Duellman, De la Riva, and Wild, 1997, Sci. Pap. Nat. Hist. Mus. Univ. Kansas, 3: 1–41, who provided an account (in the sense of including Hyla callipleura as a synonym). In the Hyla pulchella group of Faivovich, Garcia, Ananias, Lanari, Basso, and Wheeler, 2004, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 32: 938–950. De la Riva, Köhler, Lötters, and Reichle, 2000, Rev. Esp. Herpetol., 14: 31, suggested that Hyla balzani is a composite and that Hyla callipleura possibly should be resurrected. Köhler, 2000, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 48: 99, made the resurrection of Hyla callipleura. In the Hypsiboas pulchellus group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 87–88. See comments by Köhler, Koscinski, Padial, Chaparro Auza, Handford, Lougheed, and De la Riva, 2010, Zool. Scripta, 39: 572–590, on the nomenclatural difficulties with assigning a name to this population and possible confusion with Hypsiboas callipleura. Köhler, Koscinski, Padial, Chaparro Auza, Handford, Lougheed, and De la Riva, 2010, Zool. Scripta, 39: 578, noted that the terminal assigned to this species by Faivovich et al., 2005, and Wiens et al., 2010, actually corresponds to Hypsiboas callipleura. Ocampo, Aparicio, Bernal Hoverud, Domic, and Wallace, 2024, Herpetol. Notes, 17: 371–389, reported the species and its habitat in Madidi National Park, La Paz, Bolivia.
