Pacific lowlands of Colombia (Antioquia, Bolívar, El Chocó, and Valle del Cauca departments) south to Esmeraldas Province in Ecuador.

Placed in the synonymy of Hyla miliaria by Duellman, 1970, Monogr. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas: 352, but subsequently removed by Duellman, 2001, Hylid Frogs Middle Am., Ed. 2: 793. Rueda-Almonacid and Rueda-Martínez, 2004, in Rueda-Almonacid et al. (eds.), Libro Rojo Anf. Colombia: 172-177, provided an account, map, and comments about the imprecise type locality. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph.
