Comment
The sister taxon of Sphaenorhynchus according to the original publication. Pereira Silva, Ceron, Silva, and Santana, 2022, Ecol. Evol., 12(e8754): 1–15, reported on phylogenetic relationships and biogeography, suggested that Gabohyla is nested within Sphaenorhynchus, and provided a polygon map of the species. Araujo-Vieira, Dias, Pereyra, Blotto, Caramaschi, Haddad, Faivovich, and Grant, 2026, Cladistics, 42: 206–218, criticized the phylogenetic analysis of Pereira Silva et al., 2022, and did not recover Gabohyla within Sphaenorhynchus.
