Not listed as a member of the Hyla circumdata group by Caramaschi and Feio, 1990, Copeia, 1990: 542-546, or Pombal and Haddad, 1993, Herpetologica, 49: 16-21. Formally placed in the Hyla circumdata group by Caramaschi, Napoli, and Bernardes, 2001, Bol. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, N.S., Zool., 457: 1-11. In the Bokermannohyla martinsi group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 83.
