Known from the type locality (Sinnamary, French Guiana), northeastern Suriname, and ESEC Grão-Pará South, northern Pará, Brazil.

In the Hyla luteoocellata group according to the original publication; in the Hyla parviceps group by implication (DRF). See comment under Hyla luteoocellata. In the Dendropsophus parviceps group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 93. Avila-Pires, Hoogmoed, and Rocha, 2010, Bol. Mus. Parense Emilio Goeldi, Cienc. Nat., 5: 66, provided a record from Estação Ecológica Grão-Pará South, northern Pará, Brazil. Fouquet, Noonan, Blanc, and Orrico, 2011, Zootaxa, 3035: 59-67, provided molecular evidence that this species is in the Dendropsophus microcephalus group.
