Distribution

Known only from the type locality (La Salina) on the western edge of modern Casanare, Boyacá, Colombia, ca. 1450 m elevation.

Infante-Rivero, Rojas-Runjaic, and Barrio-Amorós, 2009 "2008", Mem. Fund. La Salle Cienc. Nat., 169: 45-63, suggested that this species, known only from the holotype, is not a member of Cryptobatrachus, but a hyline unassigned to genus, although possibly in Hyloscirtus. Cruz-Rodríguez, Lynch, Cárdenas, and Caicedo-Portilla, 2021, Zootaxa, 4965: 265–266, commented on the current identity of the type locality.
