Phyllodytes megatympanum Marciano, Lantyer-Silva, and Solé, 2017, Zootaxa, 4238: 136. Holotype: MZUFBA 14088, by original designation. Type locality: "in an epiphytic bromeliad in an arboreal restinga habitat of the Boa União Reserve (15º04’S, 39º03’W; 95 m above sea level), municipality of Ilhéus, state of Bahia", Brazil.

Unassigned to species group due in the original publication to the contradictory evidence. Forti, Foratto, Márquez, Pereira, and Toledo, 2018, PeerJ, 6(e4813): 1–19, characterized the advertisement call.
