Ololygon heyeri Peixoto and Weygoldt, 1987, Senckenb. Biol., 68: 1-9. Holotype: EI 7558 (designated lectotype under mistaken idea that Peixoto and Weygoldt, 1986, had coined the name. Type locality: Santa Teresa, 700 m, Espírito Santo, Brazil.

Vicinity of the type locality in the Atlantic coastal forest of eastern Brazil.

In the Scinax catharinae clade, Scinax catharinae group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 95. Description amplified by Peixoto and Weygoldt, 1987, Senckenb. Biol., 68: 1-9. Hepp, Lourenço, and Pombal, 2017, Salamandra, 53: 212–230, reported on acoustic traits (as Scinax heyeri). J. Lacerda in Ferreira, Mônico, Silva, Lirio, Zocca, Mageski, Tonini, Beard, Duca, and Silva-Soares, 2019, ZooKeys, 857: 152, noted an unnamed species, "Ololygon aff. heyeri" in the region of Santa Teresa, Espírito Santo, Brazil.
