Ololygon heyeri Peixoto and Weygoldt, 1987, Senckenb. Biol., 68: 1-9. Holotype: EI 7558 (designated lectotype under mistaken idea that Peixoto and Weygoldt, 1986, had coined the name. Type locality: Santa Teresa, 700 m, Espírito Santo, Brazil.

Vicinity of the type locality in the Atlantic coastal forest of eastern Brazil.

Description amplified by Peixoto and Weygoldt, 1987, Senckenb. Biol., 68: 1-9. Hepp, Lourenço, and Pombal, 2017, Salamandra, 53: 212–230, reported on acoustic traits (as Scinax heyeri). J. Lacerda in Ferreira, Mônico, Silva, Lirio, Zocca, Mageski, Tonini, Beard, Duca, and Silva-Soares, 2019, ZooKeys, 857: 152, noted an unnamed species, "Ololygon aff. heyeri" in the region of Santa Teresa, Espírito Santo, Brazil.
