Xenohyla eugenioi Caramaschi, 1998, Amphibia-Reptilia, 19: 378. Holotype: MNRJ 18794, by original designation. Type locality: "Fazenda Boca do Mato, Municipality of Maracás (13° 25′ S, 40° 25′ W, 964 m altitude), State of Bahia, Brazil".

Advertisement call and cytogenetics discussed by Marciano, Tanajura Silva, Costa, Orrico, and Dias, 2021, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 20: 17–23. Andrade, Dias, Almeida, Costa, and Neves, 2024, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 64(e202464002): 1–8, mapped the species and reported on its current and future predicted distribution.
