Comment

Likely in the Hyloscirtus larinopygion group, according to the original publication, where comparative morphology of the adult was detailed. Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 4: 452–453, provided an account, with photographs, which summarized identification, adult morphology, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation. Sánchez-Nivicela, Moya-Mejía, Calderón, and Carrión-Olmedo, 2026, Rev. Latinoam. Herpetol., 9: 417–428, provided a new record from Santa Teresita, cantón El Pan, Azuay Province, Ecuador, in the same mountain range as the type locality. They also provided the advertisement call, and molecular (12S and 16S mtDNA) evidence placing the species firmly in the Hyloscirtus larinopygion group.
