Distribution

Open areas in the Provinces of Misiones and Corrientes, northeastern Argentina, and in the State of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil (95–163 m elevation); likely into adjacent southern Paraguay.

In the Scinax uruguayus group according to the original publication, where the advertisement call, external morphology, larval morphology, and habitat were description. Verrastro and Borges-Martins, 2025, Anf. Rept. Pampa, 2: 65, provided a brief account, (as Scinax fontanarrosai) photograph, and dot distribution map for the Pampa biome in Brazil (as well as adjacent areas of Uruguay and Argentina).
