Litoria oenicolen Menzies and Zweifel, 1974, Am. Mus. Novit., 2558: 10. Holotype: AMNH 37922, by original designation. Type locality: "beside the Trauna River (a tributary of the Baiyer River) at the Baiyer River Wildlife Sanctuary (141° 11′ E, 5° 29′ S), Western Highlands District [now Province], Papua New Guinea, elevation 1200 m."

Distribution

Known only from the type locality in the Western Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea.

Comment

In the Litoria arfakiana group according to Tyler and Davies, 1978, Aust. J. Zool., Suppl. Ser., 27 (63): 8. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 138, provided a brief account and considered this species to be in his Litoria pratti group. Shea and Kraus, 2007, Zootaxa, 1514: 37-60, discussed paratypes.
