Litoria pronimia Menzies, 1993, Aust. J. Zool., 41: 249. Holotype: UP 8404, by original designation. Type locality: "6 km south by west of Tabubil town, on the road between Tabubil and Lukwi Dam, Ok Ma, Western Proince of Papua New Guinea ... altitude about 500 m".

Common Names

Peppered Pinocchio Treefrog (Oliver, Günther, Mumpuni, and Richards, 2019, Zootaxa, 4602: 338). 

Distribution

Found in a broad band of lowland and foothill forest spanning over 1000 km along the the southern edge of the Central Cordillera from the Crater Mountain Wildlife Management Area in the east (Papua New  Guinea), to at least as far west as Vogelkop Peninsula, Papua, Indonesia, with a further (potentially disjunct) population in the Fakfak Mountains, Papua, Indonesia, 200 to 1150 m elevation.

In the Litoria nigropunctata group according to the original publication. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 147–148, provided a brief account and included this in his Litoria iris group. Shea and Kraus, 2007, Zootaxa, 1514: 37–60, commented on types.  Oliver, Günther, Mumpuni, and Richards, 2019, Zootaxa, 4602: 338–341, provided a detailed account. Oliver, Davie-Rieck, Ramdani, Dashper, Kusuma, Lee, Rittmeyer, Clancy, Hamidy, Thompson, Fouquet, Ferreira, and Richards, 2025, Pacific Conserv. Biol., 31(PC24063): 1–12, as part of a larger discussion of the role of citizen science in documenting species ranges in Melanesia noted that the nominal species is likely a complex and that iNaturalist provided records from Waigeo I., and the Vogelkop Peninsula, Papua, Indonesia.
