Type locality: "Mount Kosciusko, Monaro District, Southern tableland, New South Wales", Australia. Synonymy with Hyla verreauxii by Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: ix, 141. Elevated to species status without discussion by Wells and Wellington, 1985, Aust. J. Herpetol., Suppl. Ser., 1: 6.
