Nyctimystes intercastellus Kraus, 2012, Zootaxa, 3493: 14. Holotype: BPBM 17938, by original designation. Type locality: "along stream SE of Sewa Bay, 10.0406° S, 150.9826° E, 120 m, Normanby Island, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea".
Litoria intercastella — Frost, 2013, Amph. Spec. World, Vers. 5.6. Reflecting status of Nyctimystes as a synonym of Litoria at the time (see Litoria account).
Nyctimystes intercastellus — Kraus, 2013, Mem. Queensland Mus., 56 : 581-587, by implication.

Comment
Closely related to Nyctimystes cheesmani according to the original publication. Menzies, 2014, Alytes, 30: 42-68, discussed this species and placed it in his Nyctimystes cheesmani group.
