Distribution

Southern coastal Western Australia: from near Albany (where it hybridizes with Litoria moorei) to Broomehill, Lake Varley, and Ravensthorpe; also from Dalyup River east to Israelite Bay and inland to Scaddan and Coragine Rock; known from Middle Island on the Recherche Archipelago; introduced onto Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.

In the Litoria aurea group of Tyler and Davies, 1978, Aust. J. Zool., Suppl. Ser., 27 (63): 12, and the Litoria aurea complex of Barker, Grigg, and Tyler, 1995, Field Guide Aust. Frogs., Ed. 2: 100. See account by Tyler and Doughty, 2009, Field Guide Frogs W. Aust., 4th ed.: 73, who suggested that this taxon may be conspecific with Litoria moorei. The species name is a noun in apposition. See brief account by Tyler and Knight, 2009, Field Guide Frogs Aust.: 66-67. Taylor, Keppel, O’Sullivan, Peters, Kerr, and Williams, 2020, Aust. J. Zool., 67: 59-72, reported an introduced population in South Australia on the Eyre Peninsula. Cutajar, Portway, Gillard, and Rowley, 2022, Tech. Rep. Aust. Mus. Online, 36: 24, provided a polygon distribution map (as Litoria cyclorhyncha).
