Hyla napaea Tyler, 1968, Zool. Verh., Leiden, 96: 145. Holotype: AMNH 49659, by original designation. Type locality: "at an altitude of 2830 ft at Camp 2, 3-4 miles south-west of Bernhard Camp, Idenburg River, Snow Mountains, New Guinea", Papua, Indonesia.

Snow Mountains Treefrog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 60).


Known only from the type locality in the Snow Mountains, and from the Wapoga River catchments 300 km to the west, New Guinea, Papua, Indonesia.


In the monotypic Litoria napaea group of Tyler and Davies, 1978, Aust. J. Zool., Suppl. Ser., 27 (63): 35. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 150-151, provided a brief account.
