Distribution

Pine-oak forest on the southern slopes of the Transvolcanic Belt in the states of Morelos and México at elevations between 1388 m (Tejupilco de Hidalgo), and 2600 m. (Villa Victoria), Mexico.

Formerly confused with Sarcohyla hapsa, in the Sarcohyla bistincta group, according to the original publication, where comparative larval and adult morphology, and molecular markers were discussed and a dot map provided.
